About
Hi, I’m Finn.

A few years ago, I realized I was spending over 8 hours a day staring at glowing rectangles. I was constantly reachable, constantly scrolling, and constantly exhausted. I tried going “cold turkey” and quitting technology altogether, but let’s be realistic: in today’s world, that just doesn’t work.
That’s when I discovered the concept of Intentional Friction.
I realized the problem wasn’t technology itself; the problem was how frictionless it had become. I started testing minimalist phones, experimenting with app blockers, and rediscovering analog tools. The goal wasn’t to become a Luddite, but to turn my devices back into tools rather than pacifiers.
That journey became PauseGadget.
What We Do
PauseGadget is an independent review site and digital wellbeing resource for the modern professional. We cut through the hype of the latest flagship smartphones to focus on gear that respects your attention span.
Here, you will find practical, hands-on guides divided into three core areas:
- Dumbphones & Hardware: In-depth, honest reviews of feature phones, E-Ink tablets, and transition devices. We test call quality, texting friction, and battery life so you can find the perfect secondary (or primary) minimalist phone.
- Digital Tools: Don’t want to ditch your smartphone? We test the best minimalist Android launchers, app blockers, and focus software to help you tame your current device.
- Analog Living: We explore life beyond the screen. From smart alarm clocks that keep your phone out of the bedroom, to paper planners and mechanical keyboards designed for deep work.
Our Editorial Promise
We don’t just rewrite spec sheets. When we recommend a dumbphone or a focus app, it’s because we’ve looked at it through the lens of digital minimalism. We value battery life over screen resolution, and single-tasking capability over multi-tasking chaos.
Transparency note: PauseGadget is supported by our readers. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. This keeps our reviews independent and objective.
